How to Look Stunning on Valentines Day

Valentine’s day often poses the question of what to wear, how to style your hair and do your makeup, after all we all want to dress to impress and to look our very best for a romantic candle lit dinner.

This year black is popular for evening attire and flattering for most figures. A simple cocktail dress with a low neckline always works or if you are a little figure-shy wear a loose flowing long dress or evening skirt coupled with a sequined or velvet top. Strappy high heels always work wonders on the legs, adding shape and give the illusion of long legs. To complete your Valentine outfit jewellery adds a lovely finishing touch, such as a sparkly necklace and long dangling earrings.

Next the focus is hair, makeup and nails…

Hair up always looks elegant and sophisticated, long hair in boundless curls is seductive, if your hair is short then a well-styled bob always looks cute.Treat yourself to a manicure especially if your nails are broken and in sad shape. Gel wraps are a great solution and there’s nothing sexier than long red painted nails.Preparation is always key to a good makeup. Apply a primer to balance and smooth the skin. Hide any unwanted blemishes or dark shadows using a concealer a shade lighter than your foundation, a silicone foundation always feels light on the skin, to add colour finish with a warm blush on the cheeks.

For a stunning Valentine makeup focus on the eyes and the lips, smokey-eyes are a great look, one that will suit everyone and perfect for a romantic dinner date.

Making ‘Smokey Eyes’ ’ Use eye-shadow powder rather than a creamy eye shadow to get that wonderful smudgy look. Remember to select a light base eye shadow for the inner eyelid and match this with a rich dark shade for the outer eye-lid. Such as silver and black, beige and coffee, a pinky base with deep purple, mellow yellows and rich orange, shades of light blue and vibrant greens, soft peaches and deep gold.

Start with your light ‘Base Eye Shadow’; use a soft eye shadow brush to apply the lighter eye shadow into the inner corner of your eye and blend up to the base of your eyebrows. If you want a full smudgy eye effect you can add a light amount of base eye shadow beneath the lower lashes.

Apply your ‘Dark Eye Shadow’ colour onto the outer corner and upwards to the crease of your eyelid, being careful not to blend the dark eye shadow into the crease of the eye, and keeping the colour depth along the top eyelashes.

Gently smudge and blend the two eye shadows harmoniously together. Finish the eyes with a rich creamy mascara or if you’re feeling daring a pair of false lashes always look great with smokey eyes.

A good makeup tip to remember to compliment bold ‘Smokey Eyes,’ is to keep your lips light and natural, use a soft pink pearl, caramel or nude ‘Lip-gloss.’ If you’ve gone for a soft, smudgy eye look then you can afford to use a bold lipstick such a dark red or rich purple on your lips.
