Avoid the January Blues and Pamper Yourself

Avoid the January Blues and Pamper Yourself

It’s January again, the time of good intentions and healthy ‘New Year’ resolutions. After the hectic build up to Christmas, shopping, washing and cooking for an endless stream of family, friends and neighbourly visitors throughout Christmas, I daresay like myself you are exhausted. So this year I decided my ‘New Years’ resolution is ‘Me Time,’ starting with a serious bit of pampering to begin the year.

Booking an appointment with your beauty therapist is always a good start. Nothing like a relaxing body massage and facial to begin your healthy ‘New Year’ regime.Try a ‘Mircrodermabrasion’ facial; this is a fabulous treatment to remove any dead skin cells or discoloured skin spots, stimulating the skin to give your face a healthy, youthful glow.

If you are brave enough, (as this is quite a teeth chattering experience) try a ‘Thalgo’ detoxifying body wrap, The instant inch loss is amazing and the skin feels toned and so soft afterwards. It is a great kick-start before you begin the new diet.

If you can’t afford a trip to the beauty salon bolt the bathroom door and begin your pampering routine at home. Treat yourself to a mineral body scrub, a rejuvenating facemask, followed by a relaxing, hot steamy bath filled with a few drops of lavender and chamomile essential oil.

A sunless suntan is a good way to raise the spirits, book a couple of sessions on a sun bed but if you want instant gratification get an airbrushed spray tan or use a tanning cream or lotion. I think one always feels better with a lovely bronzed tan. When you look good, you feel good!

Then of course there is always a little makeup retail therapy. This is the time of year to find plenty of fabulous makeup and beauty bargains in the department stores, and to replenish your makeup bag with mascara, foundation, eye shadow and lipstick. Not forgetting the discounted Christmas boxes filled with scrummy creams, body butter, bath oils and perfumes.

What a great way to begin your healthy New Year regime…
