Makeup for Men - Concealors and Foundations

Makeup is not only for women anymore and why should it be? Since male celebrities started wearing makeup it has become far more socially accepted than before. Men are equally as keen to want to look their best and to hide unsightly blemishes, saggy bags below the eyes as much as we do. I also know that teenage boys are just as self-conscious as teenage girls, each desperate to hide the spotty perils of a teenage skin.

So Guys this article is just for you. No need to go foraging in your girlfriend’s handbag anymore. It’s time you plucked courage and bought your own makeup bits.

Understandably you might feel a little awkward strolling into a shop to buy makeup, but with so many great men’s makeup products online you don’t have to. This month we will focus on making subtle improvements to the skin. How to hide blemishes, acne and unwanted spots I feel is as good a place to begin.

The Six Steps for Smooth Skin

First wet your face with warm water to open pores then wash using a mild facial cleanser, which will not clog pores. Rinse well with warm water and then splash cold water on your face to close the pores. Pat the face dry with a clean towel and not one that is marked for the laundry basket.

Next apply an alcohol-free toner with a cotton ball onto the face and neck. Alcohol-free toners prepare the face for makeup without the harsh effects of traditional alcohol, menthol or witch hazel based toners.

Now apply a small dab of oil free primer or face cream and make sure that you avoid ingredients such as mica and lanolin, which are common cosmetic ingredients, and unfortunately can aggravate acne.

Concealer is an amazing product guys. Pick a colour a shade lighter than your skin tone. Using a cotton bud or small flat headed brush dab just enough to cover the offending spot. Pat on blemish, blend outward.

Using an oil free foundation – choose a foundation that is the closet to your natural skin tone and apply a small amount with your fingers evenly over the face. Avoid the beard area.

To finish and get that been in the sun look using what is known as a blusher brush, evenly apply an even, yet small amount of bronzer on your cheeks, forehead and if you’re clean shaven to the jaw line.

Remember the golden rule of makeup… …too little is better than too much.
