  Henna decorating

Henna decorating is a wonderful art for marking celebrations! This intriguing art form has been practiced for over 5,000 years by many cultures throughout North Africa, South Asia, & the Middle East. Decorating is not specific to one particular religion or ethnicity, and is used for both traditional & non-traditional events.
In certain cultures the application of henna is thought to bring the bride good luck, passion, fertility and prosperity in her new marriage. Traditionally the mother-in-law will often apply the first spot of mendhi paste (henna) to the bride’s hand; this is seen as a blessing to the bride. Whilst the bride retains the henna she is able to abstain from any household chores so the darker the henna the better. Over the years henna has evolved catering to the individuals, it is quite common to see brides to be incorporate jewels and glitter into their henna designs.
Also it is not uncommon to see people stray away from the traditional colours of henna to coordinate with their choice in outfit. Henna body art is not just used by Eastern cultures; it now has global appeal thanks to the like of Madonna, Bjork and No Doubt. As a result henna body art has evolved just like any other art form to keep up with the demands of the consumer and its is easy to find henna artists to cater to your own personal creative design.
