Just because it’s cold outside doesn’t mean that you can’t look hot. With the 2009 winter makeup trends, you can pick a look that suits you and be sure to dazzle despite the weather. This winter the trend appears to be dark and smoky with reintroduction of metallic’s and dark hues to your palette. From Bobbi Brown’s metallic eye shadows and chrome lipsticks, to Chanel’s deep dark Rogue Allure Lipsticks including a dark purple hue, and YSL’s grey eye shadow palette.

Bobby Brown’s - The Introduction of Metallic

Bobbi Brown’s Winter collection introduces a large range of metallic eye shadows, which she states “With these shadows there’s no need to choose function over style. They’re long-wearing and come in the most glamorous, eye-catching shades ever.” This winter collection also introduces a new mascara and a selection of chrome shade lipsticks.

Eye Shadows
This collection introduces Metallic Long-Wear Cream Shadow. These award-winning cream shadows, now have a glittering, high-shimmer finish. These sheer, lightweight formula eye shadows go on comfortably and feel velvety soft. Stays colour-true and crease-free all day. Available in 8 shades.

Lipsticks
This season introduces a shimmered chrome to Bobbi Brown’s infamous lipstick line. Creamy, semi-matte colour gives lips instant polish with rich, full coverage. With its long lasting ability these new colours are a great addition to any collection.

Mascara
This winter, Bobbi Brown will launch Extreme Party Mascara, which is a mascara designed to give you intense, dramatic lashes. It will be available in just one colour — Black, when it launches in October.  The new unique-modern texture is flexible and the new brush helps to precisely separate the lashes and even the smallest of lashes will be effortlessly covered.

Chanel - Noirs Obscurs Collection

Ahead of her time as an arbiter of style and colour authority, Mademoiselle Chanel recognized and revered the colour black as a symbol of luxury, modernity, sophistication and seduction, this season her Noir Obscurs highlights this. While these statement-making tones could be overly daring to be worn together, they can easily achieve a quiet elegance when colour is limited to focus on your eyes or your lips.

Lipstick
The lipsticks are obviously the stars of this collection; Chanel introduces three witchy shades of Rouge Allure Lipsticks. Obscure would be the most wearable and adaptable shade in a dark chocolate, Manic is a daring evening look in resembling a blood infused black, and Hysteria is the most intense of the three appearing as a lush purple-black velvet.

Eye Shadows
Another great addition in this collection is Chanel’s Quator Boutons de Chanel in Les Folies Noires.  This eye shadow quad features glimmering blacks shot through with jewel shades, all the better to concoct one extra-sexy smoky eye and everyone knows nowhere is black’s mystique more strikingly expressed than on your eyes.

Mascara
Another great release with this collection is two new mascara’s Inimitable & Exceptionnel de Chanel. Two new extra black mascaras created with iron oxide to create what promises to be the darkest lashes on the market. To create a three dimensional effect with dark lush lashes. Inimitable could be used for perfectly coated, curled lashes; While Exceptionnel is great for thick, incredibly voluminised, velvety lashes thanks to plastic comb not the mention an added pearl sheen to make them glossier.

YSL- Collection for Winter 2009

This new collection from YSL allows woman to escape from the norm and build a character that radiates mystique. This look is achieved from a smart set of colours in the collection and wonderful textures for irresistibly charming and sweepingly sensual look. As seen on the model for their advertisement this line can produce a diaphanous complexion, graphic eyes and femme fatale lips - an icon of femininity.

Powder
The key to this new collection is the two-tone powder, the Y embossed palette complete with saddle-stitched sides, takes inspiration from Yves Saint Laurent’s statement ‘it’ bags. Palette Y is the Limited Edition Collector powder for the complexion in two colours peach and brown which can be used together or separately to heighten the cheekbones and sculpt the features.

Eye Shadows
This collection YSL releases 5 Colour Harmony for Eyes in Midnight. This eye shadow compact contains a stunning selection of silver/grey matched with a bright pop of slightly cool-toned silver flecked pink and a smoky shade of plumy purple. There are a bright silver, a greyish silver, and a matte black eye shadows also included in the palette.

Lipstick
Another exciting aspect of the YSL’s winter release is the Prune Exquisite addition to the already beloved Rouge Volupte Lipstick range. The formula is described as “light and covering, the cream texture becomes fluid on contact with the lips, for a delightful feeling and an exceptional gliding effect.” The lovely rich colour is perfect for the wintry months.
