The Japanese theme begins with the bride’s attire. The traditional white Japanese wedding kimono is called shiro-maku and is traditional made from silk. Shiro meaning white and maku meaning pure. After the exchange of vows the bride changes into the bright and colourful uchikake kimono.  This kimono is rich in fine embroidered patterns, embellished with scenes of flowers, cranes, pines, flower carts or nature motifs. While red is the most popular colour for the uchikake kimono, there are many different colours available from a stunning imperial purple to sea green. This array of bright and bold colour options allows you to add spice and elegance o your special day.
Hair and Makeup
With a Japanese themed wedding there is a huge allowance for creativity in both your hairstyle and make up. Some Japanese brides wear the traditional wig as part of their wedding attire, one that's heavily decorated in artificial flowers, gold combs and pearls.  

Wedding Makeup
When choosing your wedding makeup you have two avenues you could travel from subtle to extreme. The more traditional Japanese wedding make up is the emphasis on the darker shaped eyebrow and red lips, with the smooth light complexion and black eyeliner. While for the more extravagant of us there is the Geisha style which allows opportunity for extravagant colours and design.


The Wedding Décor
Some touches to consider when holding a Japanese-themed wedding which are in everyone’s budget:
• Paper or sandalwood fans to keep your guests cool and great wedding keepsakes.
• Bonsai trees or zen trays as centrepieces on the reception tables.
• Vivid, festive parasols for the flower girl or bridesmaids to carry,
• Small glass cylinders filled with bamboo stems set around the reception, to spread good luck and an authentic Japanese ambiance.
